The Department of medical services has prominent and pivotal role in the provision of quality Health care service delivery at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, Ensure provision and availability of medical supplies and equipment, Ensure the quality of laboratory services at National, state, and regional levels particularly emphasis on infectious diseases in Somalia, oversight of institutions providing Public and Private health care delivery, Capacity building of health care workers in collaboration with other departments, Monitoring of restricted and controlled medicines, Certification of medical reports from Hospitals regarding advanced medical treatment abroad and Ensure proper warehousing facilities for medical supplies and equipment. In addition to that the department also leads the technical process for the development of strategies, policies, guidelines, SOPs and regulatory frameworks for curative service delivery in line with National Health policy.
