[Nairobi, 28-Feb-2024] – The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of a three-day meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya, to discuss and finalize Somalia’s vaccination implementation plan for the next five years. This significant milestone marks a major step forward in the country’s commitment to improving public health outcomes through widespread access to vaccinations.
The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders and experts in the field, was attended by Dr. Guled, the Director General of the Ministry of Health. Dr. Guled’s presence and invaluable contributions during the discussions further reinforced the ministry’s dedication to advancing the vaccination agenda in Somalia.
In close collaboration with our esteemed partner organization, Gavi, the ministry worked diligently to develop a comprehensive plan that addresses all aspects of the vaccination campaign. This plan encompasses strategic considerations, logistical arrangements, and most importantly, securing the necessary funding to support the ambitious vaccination goals.
The finalized plan incorporates a range of funding opportunities, carefully designed to ensure the successful implementation of the vaccination campaign. These opportunities aim to leverage partnerships and engage both domestic and international stakeholders in supporting Somalia’s vaccination efforts. By adopting a multi-pronged approach, the ministry aims to maximize the impact of its vaccination initiatives and reach a larger population.
Immunization is an integral pillar of public health, playing a crucial role in preventing the spread of infectious diseases and safeguarding the well-being of communities. With this comprehensive plan in place, the Ministry of Health is confident in its ability to make significant progress in improving vaccination coverage across Somalia over the next five years.
