Mogadishu, 3 August 2026 – The Director General of the Ministry of Health and Social Services of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Yusuf Hassan Isaq, today officially launched the National Master Health Facility List (MHFL), the country’s official and unified registry of health facilities providing health services across Somalia.
The launch ceremony was attended by Directors of Departments within the Ministry, representatives from the Ministries of Health of the Federal Member States, health information officers at both federal and state levels, technical experts from the Ministry, and representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), which provided technical support for the implementation of this important initiative.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the Director General highlighted the establishment of the National Master Health Facility List as a significant milestone in strengthening Somalia’s health system and improving the governance and quality of health information.
He noted that the MHFL will serve as the official national registry for identifying and registering all health facilities across Somalia. The establishment of a single, standardized facility registry will help address inconsistencies in health facility information and strengthen the availability and reliability of health data for planning and decision-making.
The National Master Health Facility List will facilitate health service planning, management and allocation of resources, integration and interoperability of health information systems, monitoring of health services, and evidence-based decision-making based on accurate, standardized, and reliable data.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services has played a leading role in the development, harmonization, validation, and implementation of the National Master Health Facility List, in close collaboration with the Federal Member States and health sector partners.
The implementation of the MHFL forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to establish a modern, efficient, coordinated, and data-driven health system that supports effective planning, monitoring, service delivery, and continuous improvement of health services across the country.
The National Master Health Facility List will serve as the official reference registry for government institutions, health sector partners, and organizations providing health services in Somalia. It will promote greater consistency and coordination of health facility information, strengthen health information systems, improve service planning and resource allocation, and enhance accountability across the health sector.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services of the Federal Government of Somalia extends its appreciation to all Federal Member States, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other health sector partners for their technical support, collaboration, and contribution to the development and implementation of the National Master Health Facility List.
The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to strengthening Somalia’s health system, improving the quality and efficiency of health services, strengthening health information management, and ensuring that all Somali people have access to quality, equitable, and evidence-based health services.
