Ministry of Health and Human Services has established mobile health centers to care for babies and their mothers

In collaboration with UNFPA, Somalia’s Ministry of Health and Human Services has established mobile health centres to care for babies and their mothers.

The Federal Government of Somalia’s Minister of Health and Human Services, H.E. Dr Ali Haji Adam, has taken over UNFPA’s mobile healthcare system to improve the safety of newborns and mothers; this service will increase mothers’ and newborns’ access to healthcare during and after childbirth. The top leaders of UNFPA, UNICEF, and other United Nations and International Organizations were present at the transfer of the mobile healthcare service and praised the implementation of this new method of maternal and child care.

These vehicles for the new mobile health system, which will include up to five (5) vehicles, will help reduce maternal deaths while combating violence and rape against Somali women
