A delegation led by the Minister of State for Health and Human Services -FGS, Dr. Maryan Mohamed Hussein, attended a meeting in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, regarding investments in primary health care. The purpose of the meeting was to determine a remedy for Access to essential Primary Health Care. Adequate funding enables countries to fund health facilities in order to provide quality health care.
Without sufficient funding, primary health centres struggle to provide essential services, resulting in a number of negative health outcomes for Somalis. The infant mortality rate is among the highest in the world, and the maternal mortality rate is extremely high. In addition, many individuals are unable to afford Health Care, which causes financial hardship and prevents them from seeking appropriate health care.
Investing in Primary Health Care in Somalia is crucial for improving the population’s health and well-being. The Minister of State insisted that Donors can make a substantial difference by providing the necessary funding to strengthen Health systems and enhance access to care. We can ensure that all Somalis have access to essential health services and can live healthy, productive lives if we work together.
